Anupam Sud

 

 

Anupam Sud, was born in Punjab in 1944. Although began her artistic journey as a painter, she is one of the finest intaglio print makers in India . She did diploma in Fine Arts from the College of Art , New Delhi; studied Printmaking at Slade School of Art, London in 1971.

In 1967 she received the British Council scholarship, received gold medal at the Women's International Art Exhibition, New Delhi (1975). She has won 19 awards between 1969 and 1985, worked in Professional workshops in New York and in Lehman College, City University of New York in 1990. 

 

She has had solo shows at The Guild, Sakshi and Cymroza art gallery in Mumbai; AIFACS and Art Heritage in Delhi; Bose Pacia Modern in New York and many more.

 

Her group shows include 'figures in my mind 'Gallery Escape, 'Drawings' at The Guild, 'Three Indian Artists' in Germany, 'Women artists of India' in USA, also participated in the Third, Fourth and Fifth International Triennale, New Delhi (1974,1978,1982)

 

Her works are in many private collections including NGMA, Victoria and Albert Museum, London and The Lalit Kala Academy, New Delhi .

 

Anupam Sud has been experimenting in different areas of graphic medium, like infusing intaglio processes with screen printing and lithography. She paints on large canvases in acrylic. Chiaroscuro is a characteristic feature in her intaglio and mixed media prints. The decorative aspect being absent in her works she paints male and female figures in naked which draw attention to the human psychological situations.
